POLICIES/PROCEDURES

MEDICAL MONITORING

For clients with an eating disorder diagnosis an important part of your care team is your doctor. In order to be in therapy it is required that you are being monitored by a medical doctor or a pediatrician. It is essential there be signed consent for all care providers to communicate.

CONFIDENTIALITY

As part of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers we are bound by the guidelines of confidentiality. Any information shared in session will be kept confidential. There are limits to confidentiality. These include;
- Disclosure of the intent to harm yourself or someone else.
- The abuse of a child under the age of 16 or abuse by licensed professional.
- If case notes are subpoenaed to court.
- If you have signed consent to release  information to other care providers.

CANCELLATION POLICY

In order to maximize the effectiveness of therapy, clients should make counselling a  priority and should avoid cancelling  sessions except in the case of illness or emergencies. Session fees will be applied for appointments cancelled less than 24 hours in advance. There is an understanding that unforeseen circumstances occur and in these particular situations waiving the fee will be considered.
